Emergency Budget 2010 - The impact on the Charities and Education Sector

At a difficult time financially for many organizations, charities have been hit particularly hard. Whilst there were no specific measures for charities, the following are likely to have a significant impact:

 

  • Increase in VAT rate to 20%
  • Major public sector spending cuts
  • Consultation on Gift Aid
  • Withdrawal of Lennartz method of recovering VAT
  • Substantial donor consultation
  • Changes to allowances and benefits
