Rabjohns helps pan-European expansion for leading sports and leisure retailer

Worcester-based accountancy and tax firm Rabjohns LLP has recently advised one of the UK’s leading fashion, lifestyle and sports e-tailers based in Leominster.

Rabjohns have worked closely with M and M Direct for the last 13 years providing specialist tax advice and administering their large payroll. M and M Direct employ 450 dedicated staff with an extra 280 employed during busy times.

M and M was formed in 1997 by Mark Ellis and Martin Churchward who joined forces to sell end-of line clearance sports products. Today the company sells the world's top brands - Diesel, Miss Sixty, Full Circle, Nike, Adidas, Bench, Timberland, Berghaus, Rockport, Puma, Henleys and many more, all with savings of up to 75% off, with  sales in excess of £100 million.

Due to the recent expansion of their export sales, M and M Direct needed help in sourcing local VAT expertise throughout a number of European territories.

Through their membership of Kreston International, Rabjohns were able to connect   M and M Direct with quality firms to provide the VAT support they needed in France, Germany, Denmark, Holland, Finland, and Sweden.

Chris Harle, Finance Director at M and M Direct said of this approach 'What is even better is that the connections were personal ones rather than just a name in a book. The process was sorted within a few days.'

Harle continued, 'Typically with Rabjohns our issue was solved professionally and cost effectively. Rabjohns might technically be a small firm but it is big in terms of client service and reputation and has a fantastic network of useful contacts."

Rabjohns Partner Ian Smith said, 'We are delighted to support M and M in their overseas expansion.'

'Our membership of Kreston International gives us the ability to introduce our clients to like minded firms of advisers who have the local knowledge and contacts to help them develop their business and investment interests abroad. This might be opening a new branch or subsidiary overseas; developing an international sales network; advice on the local taxation issues of a holiday home; or the incentives for investing in a foreign country. '

'It currently ranks as the 13th largest accounting network in the world, covering 95 countries with 700 offices providing a resource of over 19, 500 professional and support staff. Our clients have access to 24 hour global coverage to support each and every business need.'
