| Why Rabjohns is a good firm to work for...
"Before joining Rabjohns I had spent around 5 years as a career temp. As a result, I have probably had many more jobs and worked for a lot more organisation that most people my age. I therefore have plenty of experience of employers.
All employers without exception will tell you that you are a valued member of the team. This assertion is virtually never backed up by their actions. Rabjohns is the only place I have ever worked where it has turned out to be true.
In addition to temping, I have spent several years running my own business. The qualities one develops as a self-employed person are not necessarily those which make for easy employer/employee relations. It is to Rabjohns' credit that I have been able to return to full time employment after a slightly unusual career path. It is not every firm which would have been able to make the transition so painless and this is largely down to the firm's enlightened and flexible attitude. No one here has attempted to stifle my personality. Instead, I have been positively encouraged to improve my skills, to use my talents and creativity to the full and to develop into a role which benefits the firm and provides me with maximum job satisfaction. At no time either have I been compelled to observe standard office hours. I do normally work the regular hours, but there has never been any problem with flexing them if I want to, nor has the fact that I started on a part time basis been a barrier to my career progression.
A key plank of the firm's Vision is a "Team for Life". My own experience is that this firm - uniquely - delivers on that and does not just pay lip service to it. This has been achieved through a willingness to break the mould, to be flexible, to provide an open environment in which employees can speak freely and to empower the whole team to have and implement ideas."
Update...
"I wrote the above testimonial in July 2002. Four years later, I am still employed by Rabjohns and my career has continued to progress (I am now Managing Director). The words I wrote four years ago are as true now as they were then, and I see it as a key part of my role as MD to ensure that it continues to be the case."
