| Whilst many regional firms have been shying away from audit and assurance work, Rabjohns sees this as a major growth area. Although audit thresholds have increased dramatically, allowing some companies to opt out of the statutory audit, our experience is that companies recognise the value of the independent assurance process. As well as giving reassurance to funders, external shareholders and Government bodies, the audit process itself should be a positive process which highlights areas of improvement for the business.
The introduction of International Auditing Standards will add to the specialist nature of this work and is one of the reasons why we have concentrated resources in this area and have actively recruited additional high quality people onto our team. We are responsible for auditing over £1/3rd billion of turnover per annum.
If you take a look at what our clients say about us, you will see that our audit team can work to incredibly demanding standards and timetables. We audit the UK subgroups of some international groups and meet their very short reporting deadlines. We are used to dealing with much larger firms within UK groups or in transactional work. Our work with Owner Managed Businesses is geared around having a positive impact on the management of the business rather than simply a passive review of a previous set of accounts.
Our membership of Kreston International gives us access to quality associated firms throughout all of the major trading nations globally should we need overseas assistance. Kreston UK has member firms covering the whole of the UK. This allows us to audit companies with widespread geographic interests, or act together as a consortium to audit very substantial groups. As part of Kreston UK, we have led a consortium which has successfully tendered for a Government contract.
